Washington DC! National Museum of African American History and Culture It is with immense gratitude that my students, colleagues and I were giving the opportunity to visit this museum on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. My students had a wonderfully enriching time. So much so that I "caught" many of them doing research on their phone about things they saw in the museum that they wanted to know more about, INCREDIBLE! NMAAHC Thank You Letter

The students who attended the NMAAHC Field Trip were so grateful for the experience, they felt compelled to write thank you letters to our benefactor Ms. Arline. Here is one of their letters. Dear Ms. Arline, I am very grateful to you for donating the tickets that permitted me to experience the National Museum of African American History & Culture. I was very pleased to have admired all their culture, their music, how they dressed, their sport, everything. I learned a lot about African Americans from their slavery to their freedom as they developed, and formed their own lifestyle. Much of what was there my teacher Mrs. Sia had taught, and we studied in class; this occurred once we started walking around the museum. When I was in the museum I felt a deep connection because everything was so real, the videos, the artifacts and the displays. Gettysburg Field Trip

Mr. Boettcher planned a field trip to Gettysburg and invited me along. It was such an educational experience for our students especially because of the enormous amount of knowledge Mr. Boettcher and Mr. Warren have about the Battle of Gettysburg. I played the role of photographer. My favorite quote of the day was "I didn't know nature had a smell, I love it!" Mr. Warren explaining what happened right in this spot on the first day of battle.
